Strategic Planning Tools

Tools to help new companies navigate the incubation process

There are a number of resources provided by the Arizona Center for Innovation targeted towards new technology ventures:
  1. The Innovation Continuum. Visually represents the chain of processes that happen from idea to success. This overlaps a company's stage of development, growth, and funding and is a keystone for ongoing program assessment and development for the Arizona Center for Innovation.
  2. Program Overview and Milestones. Provides a table of critical elements that every new venture must address and identifies key milestones for each, as the company moves through the Innovation Continuum. This creates a checklist or a road map for both the incubator and the new venture, providing a unique and focused experience for each new venture.
  3. Resource List. Provides recommended reading and other resources.
  4. FIRST Steps - Strategy for New Technology Ventures. This is a unique model designed to help new technology companies build their business plan and strategies as they move from idea to market, and covers key areas of development: funding, implementation, resources, sales and marketing, and technology. This is a great tool for brainstorming sessions with your mentors. If you would like assistance in facilitating a FIRST model brainstorming session for your new venture, please contact the Arizona Center for Innovation.
